From Cresta Bella, I-10 West leads down to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, The Rim, The Shops at La Cantera and The Rock at La Cantera, all within a short stretch of highway. This fall, all four venues are on the same schedule. Halloween programming fills October weekends and runs into the first week of November. Holiday programming opens on one Saturday, November 21. Between the two seasons there is a gap.
The gap runs twelve days, from Monday, November 9, through Friday, November 20. Halloween ends in stages. Fright Fest at Fiesta Texas closes November 1, and Coyote's Corn Corral at The Rock closes November 8. Then nothing seasonal is scheduled at these four venues until the tree lighting. That leaves room for the new tenants that arrived at La Cantera in August and haven't yet had to compete with a holiday weekend.

October builds toward one weekend
The Rock's Rocktober lineup at Frost Plaza opens with Sunday Scaries Happy Hour & Live Music on October 4 and Light the Night on October 10, then runs through the end of the month. On Sunday, October 11, The Shops at La Cantera hosts a Día de los Muertos Experience in Center Court from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The mall lists Catrina fashion, live music and performance. It's a two-hour evening event, and it fits easily into a Sunday.
The next Saturday is a full day at The Rock. Pumpkin Palooza runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on October 17. It's free, and the RSVP isn't required to attend. The Rock's listing includes pumpkin carving, competitive games, live music and seasonal food. At noon, the venue cuts the ribbon on Coyote's Corn Corral, a giant corn pit for kids and families. The Corral is ticketed and stays open through November 8, from 4 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 9 p.m. on weekends. That makes it the last Halloween-season attraction on the corridor to close.
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year. The Rock's Halloween Spooktacular runs from 6 to 10 p.m. on October 31, with trunk-or-treat, a costume contest and family activities. Fiesta Texas is running Fright Fest on select nights the same weekend. Its 2026 event page features two new haunted attractions, Nosferatu and Cinema Slasher, and the final Fright Fest night is Sunday, November 1.
With Halloween on a Saturday and Fright Fest ending the next night, the season's busiest dates on this stretch of I-10 land on a single weekend. The Corn Corral then runs one more week by itself.
Twelve days with nothing on the calendar
Once the Corral closes on November 8, the corridor has no seasonal events until the holidays begin. In that window, the new arrivals at La Cantera are the main draw, and most of them are less than three months old.
Crate & Barrel
Crate & Barrel opened its first San Antonio store at The Shops at La Cantera on August 20. My Neighborhood News reported the opening the next day. The store is at 15900 La Cantera Parkway, Unit 12050. Until now, Crate & Barrel had no store in the city, so the November lull falls right before the first holiday-hosting season with one nearby.
Herman Miller and AMIRI
The Shops at La Cantera now lists Herman Miller as open at 15900 La Cantera Parkway. The listing shows a date of August 20, 2026. AMIRI is also listed as open, near Nordstrom. The San Antonio Express-News reported in May that AMIRI planned a 2,203-square-foot boutique there, with construction possibly finished as soon as this fall. The mall hasn't published an opening date. It does show the store as operating, so the boutique is ready before the holiday rush.
Sixty Vines
Sixty Vines announced in June that its first San Antonio restaurant, at The Shops at La Cantera, would officially open Monday, August 10. The San Antonio location page now lists regular hours and takes reservations. For the twelve-day gap, that's the most practical detail: you can book a table ahead instead of hoping for a slot on a holiday-market weekend.
Sunny's at The Rim
Sunny's, an all-day brunch restaurant that started in Boerne, was scheduled to open a second location at The Rim on June 15, 2026. It opened earlier than the August group, but it's another option on this stretch of I-10 for a weekday morning in mid-November.
A construction date, not an opening date
One project could change the gap. Hard Eight BBQ has a registered project for a restaurant inside Bass Pro Shops at The Rim, at 17907 IH-10 West. The project's filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation describes it as 17,300 square feet and $5 million. The filing lists a planned start of April 2, 2026, and a construction completion date of November 1, 2026.
The November 1 date is a construction target, not an opening date. The state record still shows the project as "Project Registered." When the San Antonio Current covered the project in March, it said no grand-opening date was available yet.
If construction finishes on schedule and the restaurant opens soon afterward, Hard Eight would arrive during the quiet weeks. If not, the gap stays as it is on the calendars today. Either way, it isn't safe to plan around Hard Eight yet.
November 21 opens everything at once
The lull ends abruptly. On Saturday, November 21, the two largest holiday programs on the corridor open on the same day.
At Fiesta Texas, Holiday in the Park runs on select dates from November 21 through December 23. The park lists lights, live shows, selected rides, Santa and seasonal food.
At The Rock at La Cantera, Holidays at The Rock runs from November 21 through January 3. The schedule includes:
- A free tree lighting on opening night, Saturday, November 21, from 7 to 10 p.m.
- Frost Plaza hours of 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily throughout the season
- Skating rink hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on opening weekend, then 4 to 10 p.m. daily during Thanksgiving week, closed Thanksgiving Day
- A free holiday market at Frost Plaza, 1 Spurs Way, Friday, November 27, through Sunday, November 29
For six weeks after November 21, The Rock's plaza is programmed from morning to late evening every day, and Fiesta Texas has holiday dates running into Christmas week. The holiday market falls on the weekend after Thanksgiving, which keeps late November busy as well. All of this makes November 9 through 20 the one stretch this fall with nothing seasonal on the calendar between Cresta Bella and La Cantera.
A workable plan follows from the dates. Do Halloween on the October 17 and October 31 weekends. Hold the second and third weeks of November for a dinner reservation at Sixty Vines and an unhurried visit to Crate & Barrel or Herman Miller before holiday hosting begins. Put November 21 on the calendar for the tree lighting.
Seasonal timing matters in real estate too. Choosing when to list a home in the weeks around the holidays deserves the same planning as a family calendar. If you're weighing that decision for the months ahead, Kristina Guzman can walk you through how timing affects your plan. Let's Connect.
